It’s my love for a good bottle of cheap wine, my time and laughter with friends and family, and my pure enjoyment for student success. I live a life with a mind set of “go big or go home” in every aspect possible. I live one day at a time; one moment at a time, and soak in as much as I can from life’s experiences.
My name is Marcus Hollan and I am a junior at Chico State. I am majoring in Agriculture Business with a minor in Business Administration, and plan to transfer to University of Florida to obtain my Masters in Psychology in Education. Eventually, somewhere down the road, I would love to own a Leadership Consulting Firm; marketing to both the youth and corporate entities. I was born in Los Angeles, but my hometown is Mariposa; a small, rural community nestled in the foothills of Yosemite National Park. I grew up where every body knew every body, and every bodies business. I absolutely respect the small town of Mariposa, and would not change my childhood for anything less. I have a great passion for the agriculture industry as well as leadership education. Having raised livestock most of my life and being a part of the FFA agricultural program in high school has instilled in me a great interests for an industry that feeds the world. I currently serve as a National Collegiate Agricultural Ambassador; bridging the gap between the agricultural industry and the local community.
Currently I work three different jobs; two during the year, and one summer job. During the year I work at Office Depot as a customer service rep as well as a leadership conference trainer. I spend nearly two weekends out of each month traveling to a different state delivering and facilitating motivating and encouraging two-day leadership conferences to high school students. In January alone, I traveled over 15,000 miles and to five different states facilitating these leadership conferences. In the summer time I live in Washington, DC from the third week of May until the first week of August facilitating a summer long leadership conference called that Washington Leadership Conference. We facilitate a week long conference seven different times, and come in contact with over 3,500 students from all over the country. This will be my third summer in DC, and this year I have the opportunity to manage the leadership conference.
When not working or doing homework, I love to kick it with family and friends, bar hop in Chico and Sacramento, and go on road trips. I love a good Merlot, Blue Moon beer on tap, Saturday Night at La Salles, dirty Martinis, making people laugh, watching musicals on Broadway (Wiked, Rent, ect.), and just plain chillin’.
